2007 NC State Fair Video Blogs
Welcome to the VLOG site for the North Carolina State Fair hosted by NBC 17. This year the fair runs from October 12th through October 21st. This site will contain a collection of videos submitted by NBC 17 Community Content Liaisons, the Wells Family Band, and fair attendees. Please join in the fun!
VIDEO SUGGESTION: Upload your 2-3 minute videos to You Tube.
IMAGE SUGGESTION: Upload your images to one of the many FREE image-hosting sites out there - Photobucket and Tinypic, to name a couple.
Once you have chosen your BEST images and video, there is a link to the right entitled, “User Submissions”. You can then submit the links to your videos and photos directly under the User Submissions page. Don’t forget to include a short paragraph of your own experience from the Fair and/or include a short description of what the public will see when they click on the links you provide. If that is too complicated, then you can also send your jpegs (and/or jpeg links) and You Tube video links to lsullivan@wncn.com. Due to the volume of pics and video that we receive please be patient with their upload to our site and Blog.
Thank you! Can’t WAIT to see how much fun y’all have!!

I am so excited to see your enthusiasm for this event and contributing to our site!
I will be writing a Blog entry on the “how to’s” and “wheres” for video and picture upload on Tuesday, October 9th. Whatever pictures or video you take, please save and then follow the instructions when they are posted.
Thanks again for that enthusiasm and please let everyone else know too!

I looked all over your website for some way to upload my stuff, and all I could find was under Wake Up Calls, where people can upload .mov files only. (I have both .mov & .jpg files.) So I changed the file name extensions of my ,jpg files to .mov, and uploaded them anyway. when you get them, you can change them back, and have some great photos, along with my videos too. I went out this weekend and shot a lot of stuff showing the preparation going on. Pics & vids of stuff you won’t normally see when the Fair actually opens. Hoep you all enjoy!

Just some additional comments:
Your Wake-Up Call people have posted my Fair videos on their website, rather than getting them to you for the Fair videos website. Except for the photos, that didn’t get posted at all. I don’t know if you all get the concept of restoring a file to its original state by changing a file name extension, but if you have any computer people working over there, you should go talk to them about this.
Also, what got posted, got posted in no semblance of order at all. There’s just no apparent coherence at all to any of it. It’s very disorienting. And very disappointing.
I have a lot more videos & photos I was going to send.
Gary, I need to talk to you, please!
Email me at lsullivan@wncn.com so we can arrange for your videos and pics to be placed in their appropriate locations.
Thanks! Good Stuff!!

The NC State Fair is coming week from today. I go to it every year, every day. I have family members who work in booths at the fair. The preparation for this year’s fair started the last day of last year’s fair. This weekend people will already be setting up things at the Fairgrounds.
I know more about the Village of Yesteryear than I do about anything else at the Fairgrounds. This weekend some of the Village guys will come in and start pulling the portable walls and tables out of storage, and setting them up for when the craftspeople start coming in on Wednesday. The guys that come in this weekend will also spend a good amount of time horsing around, telling stories, drinking beer, and making music, and just having a good old time.
Somebody’ll sustain a minor injury. Hopefully nobody’ll hurt themselves too bad this year! (It’s always fun until somebody gets hurt.) Time will tell.
There are 2 dormitory buildings at the Fairgrounds, where they can stay for only a nominal cost. Some of the guys will stay in the men’s dorm, some will stay in their own RVs. Getting settled in for the next 2 weeks will be its own personal adventure for everybody. Some are local and won’t stay at the Fairgrounds at all.
