N.C. State Fair Media Day 2008
For most of us, the 2008 North Carolina State Fair begins on Thursday. But for people who work for the Fair, things have been hopping for months! At Monday’s Media Luncheon we got a sneak-peak into the Fairgrounds and all they have to offer Fair-goers this year.
You can of course expect all the usual fried concoctions (fried cheese, fried cheesecake, fried Oreos, fried Snickers –- my personal fave, French fries … you name it) and this year you can add fried mac-n-cheese into the arsenal of foods that’ll be wreaking havoc on your arteries. I tried it on Monday and… well, it’s fried all right. I’ll let you all be the final judges …
And while what you eat might leave you looking for a confession booth, how it’s prepared will leave you guilt-free. That’s because this year the Fair will be re-using fried leftovers as bio-diesel fuel. Some other “Green NC” initiatives: using LED lights and recycled construction material, introducing four recycling stations around the Fairgrounds, and more green space around Dorton Arena.
Things kick off this Thursday at 3 p.m. Hope to see you all there!
