Tell Some Stories At the State Fair
So this year’s North Carolina State Fair will feature local storytellers, and you can see them daily at the Folk Festival Tent.
It’s part of the exhibit from the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources and this years theme is “Telling Our Stories,” according to spokeswoman Fay Mitchell. You can hear stories accompanied by drumming, music and other props at 6 p.m. week days and at 7 p.m. on the weekend.
Storytellers include Mitch “Gran’ daddy Junebug” Capel, who uses poetic verse to spread the word. Patti Precilla Best, a retired media coordinator, also will share chants and stories.
Others include Beverly Burnette, Claire Ramsey, Willa Bringham, host of the television show “Smart Start for Kids.”
