State Fair Visitors Will Get Chance To Claim Money
People attending the North Carolina State Fair will have a chance to find out if they’ll leave the midway with more than a stuffed teddy bear.
NC Cash, the State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property program, will have a booth at the fair in Raleigh where citizens can search a database of nearly $500 million in property held by the state treasurer’s department to see if they have money to claim.
The 2010 fair begins on Thursday.
State Treasurer Janet Cowell says nearly 900 people left the 2009 fair with more than $200,000 in returned property.
Unclaimed property consists of bank accounts, wages, utility deposits, stocks, bonds and other property types which have been abandoned due to a loss of communication or oversight.
